‘Be Her’ Becomes Ella Langley’s Latest, And Fastest-Flying, Country Airplay No. 1

Ella Langley continues her meteoric rise in country music with 'Be Her', which has become her fourth No. 1 on Billboard's Country Airplay chart. The song jumped to the top in its 15th week, marking Langley's fastest flight to the summit. The achievement, recorded on the chart dated June 6, underscores Langley's growing dominance on country radio and places her in elite company among female artists.

'Be Her' gained 3% to reach 29.8 million audience impressions during the May 15-21 tracking week, according to Luminate. The track follows Langley's previous chart-toppers: 'Choosin' Texas,' which led for three weeks in February-March, and two collaborations with Riley Green — 'Don't Mind If I Do' (one week in December 2025) and 'You Look Like You Love Me' (one week in December 2024). Her consistent output has established her as one of the most formidable new voices in country radio.

The speed of 'Be Her's ascent is particularly noteworthy. Approximately 37% of all No. 1s on the Country Airplay chart since its inception in 1990 have reached the top in 15 weeks or fewer. However, solo-billed women account for only 6% of that group. The fastest among them remains Shania Twain's 'Love Gets Me Every Time,' which soared to No. 1 in just six weeks in 1997. In the last decade (since June 2016), Langley now stands alone. 'Be Her' is the quickest trip to No. 1 by a solo-billed woman in that span, surpassing her own 'Choosin' Texas' and Carrie Underwood's 'Church Bells,' both of which took 16 weeks. Among all acts in the last ten years, Post Malone and Morgan Wallen hold the overall speed record with 'I Had Some Help,' which reached No. 1 in just seven weeks in 2024.

Langley's rapid rise reflects broader trends in country radio, where female artists have historically faced challenges in achieving airplay and chart success. Her ability to secure four No. 1s in a relatively short time, and now with a record-breaking pace, signals a shift in the landscape. The song 'Be Her' itself is a mid-tempo track that showcases Langley's distinctive vocal style — a blend of traditional country twang with contemporary pop sensibilities. Lyrically, it explores themes of self-empowerment and authenticity, resonating strongly with audiences.

Meanwhile, Langley's previous No. 1, 'Choosin' Texas,' continues to perform well. It holds at No. 6 on the current Country Airplay chart, demonstrating staying power. Additionally, her collaboration with Morgan Wallen, 'I Can't Love You Anymore,' surges from No. 15 to No. 13 in its fifth week, with a 19% increase to 16.2 million audience impressions. That song's rapid climb — reaching the top 15 in only five weeks — places it among just 13 songs in the last decade to achieve that milestone so quickly. Notably, it is only the second such song to include a female artist, following Kenny Chesney and P!NK's 'Setting the World on Fire' in 2016, which reached the top 10 in four weeks.

Wallen's 'Problem' Persists

Morgan Wallen continues to dominate the Country Airplay chart with multiple entries. His song 'Don't We' jumps from No. 11 to No. 9, amassing 19.5 million audience impressions, an 8% increase. This marks his 23rd top 10 on the chart and the seventh from his album 'I'm the Problem.' The first six singles from the album have all reached No. 1, with the most recent being '20 Cigarettes,' which held the top spot for two weeks in February-March 2025. Wallen's sustained success underscores his massive popularity and the loyalty of country radio programmers.

The album 'I'm the Problem' has been a commercial juggernaut, producing hit after hit. Wallen's ability to blend traditional country storytelling with modern production has earned him a broad fanbase. His collaboration with Langley on 'I Can't Love You Anymore' further cements his role as a collaborator who elevates emerging artists. The song's rapid ascent suggests it may soon enter the top 10, adding another hit to Wallen's already impressive tally.

Langley's breakthrough comes at a time when the country music industry is increasingly recognizing female talent. Artists like Lainey Wilson, Megan Moroney, and Kelsea Ballerini have all enjoyed significant airplay successes in recent years. However, Langley's speed record highlights her unique trajectory. Her rise from relative newcomer to chart-topping artist in less than three years demonstrates the power of strategic singles, radio-friendly production, and strong fan engagement.

Industry analysts point to several factors behind Langley's success. Her team has focused on building a consistent radio presence, releasing singles that appeal to both traditional and contemporary country audiences. Moreover, her collaborations with established acts like Riley Green and Morgan Wallen have introduced her to wider audiences. The production of 'Be Her' — with its catchy hook and relatable lyrics — was designed for maximum radio play, and the strategy has paid off.

The Country Airplay chart, compiled by Luminate, measures audience impressions across more than 130 reporting stations. A song's performance depends on both the number of plays and the size of the station's audience. Langley's growth in this metric week over week indicates strong programmer support and listener response. The 15-week climb is particularly impressive given that many songs take longer to build momentum, especially for female artists.

Looking ahead, Langley is likely to continue capitalizing on her momentum. She is reportedly working on new material and plans to tour extensively in support of her catalog. With multiple No. 1s already under her belt, she is positioned to become a mainstay in country music for years to come. The success of 'Be Her' not only breaks records but also sets a new benchmark for emerging female artists aiming for radio dominance.

All charts dated June 6 will update on Tuesday, June 2, on Billboard.com, providing further insight into the shifting dynamics of country radio. For now, Ella Langley can celebrate a milestone that cements her status as one of the fastest-rising stars in the genre.
