Gold Coast Titans halfback Ash Taylor is in hot water after being placed on report for a knee to the head of Melbourne Storm star Nicho Hynes.
Taylor's frustrations boiled over as his team coughed up a 10-0 lead to the ladder-leaders, who recorded their 19th consecutive victory with the 34-20 result.
The incident occurred on a hit-up from Hynes when he was tackled to the ground by Taylor and Titans teammate Brian Kelly.
Taylor grappled with Hynes while he was on the turf before getting up and driving his right knee into the Storm star's head.
"You can see he was giving it a bit to Nicho Hynes and then right at the end he just gives him a knee right to the head," Nine's sideline reporter Emma Lawrence said.
"The concerning part for the Titans is they've got the Knights and the Warriors over the next couple of weeks, and essentially both are must-wins if they are to make the top eight."
The Taylor incident is not the only headache to come out of the loss to Melbourne for coach Justin Holbrook, with veteran Kevin Proctor suffering a shoulder injury in the first half.
The 32-year-old came off after just eight minutes, and despite the Titans medical staff stating he'd come back on in the second half, he did not reappear.
