Brisbane is set to host the 2021 NRL Grand Final with a deal "all but done" to have Suncorp Stadium stage the league's showpiece event.

As the delta COVID-19 outbreak continues to wage in NSW, the decider - which is usually held at Sydney's Stadium Australia - is set to relocate to the Sunshine State.

Nine News reports the Queensland Government wasn't required to bid for the grand final, handed the rights after their work in keeping the 2021 season afloat.

"A deal is all-but done, and it looks like Suncorp Stadium will host this year's NRL Grand Final," Nine News Queensland's Peter Fegan said. "The deal just needs to be finalised and signed off on.

"Queensland didn't have to bid for the right to host this year's final. Queensland was being rewarded for their good work in containing the COVID outbreak and the fact that Queensland has saved this year's NRL competition."

Melbourne's MCG was also thought to be a contender but with cases continuing to bubble across Victoria the decision appeared to be a clear choice.

In another major boost for the league, Stadiums in Queensland are set to return to full capacity this Friday in time for Round 24's blockbuster between the Sydney Roosters and South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The 2021 NRL Grand Final will take place on Sunday October 3rd and will be broadcast live and exclusive on Channel Nine.
