Melbourne Storm and Maroons star Cameron Munster has revealed his desire to reunite with former Origin coach Wayne Bennett, with the legendary figure tipped to coach Brisbane's expansion team.

The NRL met prospective bidders earlier this week to discuss adding a team in Brisbane and all of them are keen on signing Bennett as foundation coach, who is a free agent from next season.

The ARL Commission will make a decision by October whether to introduce a fourth Queensland club for 2023 or 2024 season.

Munster is contracted to the Storm until the end of 2023, and revealed the prospect of returning home at the back end of his career and playing under Bennett would be something he'd consider.

"I know Wayne would be very keen to coach a second Brisbane team," Munster told News Corp.

"He told me in Origin camp (last November) he is keen on a second Brisbane team, so it would be a very competitive side if Wayne was in charge.

"The Storm are a great club and they gave me my first opportunity to play NRL. I am a pretty loyal bloke and I will definitely give them an opportunity to keep me, but with the new Brisbane team coming along, it will be a tough conversation to have."

Munster is expecting his first child long-term partner Bianca and has discussed returning to Queensland be around family.
