Des Hasler's men are 80 minutes away from a record recovery effort this season with a win over the Bulldogs.

Victory will mean a top four spot, which looked impossible after their horror opening month to the season.

Manly slumped to their fourth straight loss to start the year in late March only to turn it around months later.

Only one other side in the NRL era has gone on to make the top four after losing their opening four games - St George Illawarra in 2005.

Manly's for-and-against through the opening month was terrible -122, worse than the Dragons' -82 through the same period in 2005.

It came amidst Manly's worst-ever opening month in both attack and defence, before Tom Trbojevic's return helped spark their season.

The Bulldogs go into the match looking to reverse their last meeting with the Sea Eagles which ended in a 66-0 thrashing.
