Republican Party of Florida chairman Jim Greer suddenly isn't looking so bad for attempting to run a primary-free slate of candidates for CFO, attorney general, ag commissioner governor and U.S. Senate. Though the Senate-clearing for Gov. Charlie Crist backfired a bit because of former House Speaker Marco Rubio's vocal (but likely small) number of supporters, the Democrats might look on in envy.

U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown made noise about challenging U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek in the Democratic race for U.S. Senate — just as state Sen. Dan Gelber was leaving the race to avoid a "circular firing squad." He's considering a run for attorney general and was chatting with state Sen. Dave Aronberg and former Sen. Rod Smith over how to handle the race.

But Aronberg decided to fire off anyway on the I-called-it-first ticket. So Dave has dibs, Dan.

"I announced after session that I would probably run. I waited out of respect for the other potential candidates and to try to work things out. We were having discussions for a month. I waited and had discussions while Dan Gelber running for the U.S. Senate. There are only so many times you can beat your head in the wall. My heart told me the only office I wanted to run for was attorney general," Aronberg said.

Meantime, the Dems haven't settled on a candidate for CFO officer, either.
