U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek of MIami scooped up two key Democratic endorsements today for his U.S. Senate campaign. One is from Alex Sink, the state's chief financial officer and leading candidate for governor, and the other is from his former Senate rival, U.S. Rep. Corrine Brown of Jacksonville. The endorsements are meant to show the party is rallying behind Meek and to nudge former Miami Mayor Maurice Ferre out of the race.
Sink: I am pleased to endorse Congressman Kendrick Meek as a candidate for U.S. Senate. During his time in the state legislature, Kendrick worked diligently to improve Florida's schools. As a member of Congress, Kendrick has worked on behalf of Florida's families, making his voice heard of issues of housing and providing economic opportunities for Floridians.
