The Public Service Commission has ordered Florida Power & Light to refund customers $13 million for a 2008 power outage caused by a fault in the company's Miami sub-station.

The company was forced to shut down five of its power generating units and purchase power, thus raising fuels costs for its 4.5 million customers. The refund will amount to about $1.53 for a typical customer but will be given back based monthly — about $0.14 for 1,000 kilowatts of usage.
