Ed Domansky, spokesman for the Office of Insurance Regulation led by Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty, resigned abruptly from the post late last week.

Sources say he was 'encouraged' to leave after being told he was not effectively getting out the message. His resignation letter dated July 30 is one of those terse, one-sentence deals that suggests the exit was less than amicable and cheery. See here: Download Ed Domansky resignation

Domansky's departure comes as McCarty and the office get heat from elected officials including Sen. Mike Bennett over State Farm's exit from the Florida property insurance market and over McCarty's recent claims that 40 new insurers with $4-billion in capital are now writing policies in Florida. CFO Sink recently asked Domansky to get back to her with a better explanation of those figures, which include many surplus lines insurers that do not write typical homeowner policies.

Domansky could not be reached today.
