Kendrick Meek, the leading Democratic candidate for Florida's open U.S. Senate seat, sided with his party and bashed the Republican-led state Senate's vote Thursday to put class size back on the ballot.

His staff released this statement: "Good policy was trumped by bad politics today.  Insiders, bureaucrats, and special interests put their personal, cozy relationships with some school administrators ahead of the needs of Floridians, and if the state house passes and the governor agrees to this measure, come November, our families, teachers and communities will send a clear message that they still want smaller class sizes."
