State Sen. Lee Constantine, an Orlando Republican who is chairman of the Public Service Commission Nominating Council on Monday resigned from the council that recommends applicants to the state utility board and instead said he'll apply for the board himself.

"I believe I know the issues. I believe I'm passionate about and issue and I'm a consensus builder,'' Constantine told the Herald/Times on Monday.

He joins state Rep. Ron Brise, a Miami Democrat, PSC general counsel and former state Sen. Curt Kiser and former PSC executive director Mary Bane, who retired from the commission in December.
