Former Senate President Ken Pruitt was interviewed by a state
investigator as part of the criminal case against Ray Sansom and
acknowledged the way Sansom got $6 million for an airport building was
"not common."
His testimony, given Aug. 4 under oath with attorney Ron Meyer present, is pretty much what he told us back in May
after an e-mail surfaced showing Sansom, college president Bob Richburg
and Jay Odom flew down to Indian River Community College to tour a
planned homeland security building.
Pruitt told the investigator
he could not recall if the men ever talked about a facility in Destin.
"I can't adamantly represent to you that they never discussed it with
me." But he said he had no idea what was planned in the Panhandle.
Pruitt
also said it was unusual for the project to appear only as one line in
the budget, with no backup justification. "It's not common," he said,
"but it is possible." He said he had no idea Odom around the same time
sought a $6 million CBIR for an airport hangar/emergency operations
center.

going to store aircraft in the building, despite what the college says
is an agreement precluding such use. Story here.
