Gov. Charlie Crist is slated to be the keynote speaker today at the Summit on Puerto Rican Affairs in Orlando, giving him a chance to court a potentially key voting bloc in the U.S. Senate race.
Wonder how many people in the crowd, however, are holding a grudge against Crist for opposing the nomination of Sonia Sotomayor, the first Puerto Rican justice to the Supreme Court?
Crist's confusing judicial philosophy has been taking hits from both sides in recent days. His Senate rivals, Democrat Kendrick Meek and Republican Marco Rubio, are mocking him for opposing Sotomayor (back when he was trying to out-conservative Rubio as a Republican candidate) but sounding amenable to President Obama's latest nomination (now that he's running as an independent.)
Here's a video of Crist stumbling to explain it to The Miami Herald editorial board.
UPDATE: Alex Sink's campaign for governor says Crist backed out of the Orlando event and that she is replacing him.
