Gov. Charlie Crist today asked for three people to consider replacing U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez: Miami Rep. Lincoln Diaz-Balart, former U.S. Attorney Bob Martinez** and former Secretary of State (and uber-lobbyist) Jim Smith. The Palm Beach Post reported it first. The governor has said he'd pick about 7 shortlisters.

Here's the application Download 2009.8.14 Senate Questionnaire

**Note: The original blog confused our Bob Martinezes, and therefore misrepresented that the former USA is a lobbyist.
