Debbie Wasserman Schultz says a new report by congressional budget number crunchers that says President Barack Obama's health care bill could reduce the federal deficit by $138 billion over 10 years should be good news to wavering Democrats like Allen Boyd and Suzanne Kosmas — two Floridians that both parties are targeting in the health care debate.

Wasserman Schultz, a chief deputy whip for the House, said she's talked with Boyd — a Panhandle Democrat and Kosmas of Orlando — and said they're both focused on deficit reduction.

"The (report) shows the bill will actually provide … deficit reduction," she said. "So I expect that will be good news for both of them."

She said Democrats are nearing their goal for passage: "We're getting very close to the votes we need in the totality of the caucus," Wasserman Schultz said in a conference call sponsored by Organizing for America, which is championing passage of the bill.
