In a visit to Miami Children's Hospital, Gov. Charlie Crist addressed an inspector general report that said a Public Service Commission lobbyist used "poor judgment" by attending a Florida Power & Light executive's party.

"That's probably the case,'' he said. "I haven't read the report, so it would be premature for me to comment on it, but I think what you're talking about is some interaction between an employee of the PSC and some of the utilities that they regulate directly.''

Asked if a broader investigation into the PSC was warranted, he said, "That's why we're doing one, because I think it's warranted. FDLE is doing that as you know.''

The visit to the hospital appeared suddenly on Crist's calendar on the same day his likely Democratic Senate opponent, Kendrick Meek, is holding a townhall meeting on healthcare. A coincidence or calculated move to overshadow his rival's event?

"I didn't even know he was having one,'' Crist said. "That's funny.''

Crist said he met with a three-year-old girl suffering from H1N1 flu virus and hoisted a foamcore model of a soap-bubble character called "Mister Squeaky Clean.'' He said, "I'm here because it's very important because we're in the school year now to make sure children understand the importance of washing their hands, keeping their hands clean."
