Gov. Charlie Crist has named former Jeb Bush communication director Alia Faraj-Johnson to the Florida Elections Commission, replacing another Bush staffer, Karen Unger. For the past three years, Faraj has been a vice president at Ron Sachs Communications. Prior to that, she worked for state government for four years, including as the deputy secretary of state during the 2004 presidential election. Her term began July 16, 2009, and ends December 31, 2011. Faraj-Johnson lives in Tallahassee.
Crist also appointed Brian M. Seymour of Palm Beach Gardens, an attorney with Gunster, Yoakley and Stewart, to the commission for a term beginning July 16, 2009, and ending December 31, 2012.
