This just in: Gov. Charlie Crist is planning to interview state Rep. Jennifer Carroll and University of North Florida President John Delaney in Jacksonville tomorrow for the U.S. Senate appointment.

4331 Carroll is the first woman to be considered to fill the rest of U.S. Sen. Mel Martinez's term. She was also the first black Republican elected to the Legislature and was viewed as a potential running mate for Crist in 2006. She's a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as secretary of the state Department of Veterans Affairs under former Gov. Jeb Bush.

Delaney is the former mayor of Jacksonville and has been a university president since 2003. Images
