At a budget workshop today, Broward commissioners continue to take swipes at Sheriff Al Lamberti for refusing to cut more than $50 million from his budget. Lamberti isn't here.

Lamberti's proposed budget is a slight increase, but reduces growth by laying off 177 workers and axing drug treatment in the jails. He says he can't cut more, but commissioners say they could simply give him a certain amount of money and let him decide what to cut.

"Last time I was bullied I was in the third grade,'' said commissioner Joe Eggelletion. "I ain't going to be bullied.''

If Lamberti and county officials can't agree, he can appeal portions of his budget to the Cabinet.
