The fallout continues from the unsuccessful trial-lawyer battle to stop John Thrasher from becoming Florida's next state senator. Today, the Florida Justice Association issued a report and press release saying the trial lawyers suspended political director Albert Balido, executive director Scott Carruthers and deputy executive director Paul Jess.

In a report from Gerald Kogan, the association shows where it went wrong in hiring political attack dog Bill Helmich, who sent out a race-baiting flyer featuring images of Barack Obama, Black Panthers and Louis Farrakhan to gin up Republican votes.

"Bill, did it have to be so over the top?" Balido asked when he saw the flyer. Still, the association allowed the flyer to be sent out, citing legal reasons.

"I think at least for us, that's where we lost our moral compass… I think we made a legal decision instead of a moral one," Balido said.
